01 — The fundamentals

What is SEO, without the mystique

Search engine optimisation is the practice of making a website easier for a search engine to find, understand and trust, and making its pages better answers to what people actually type. That is the whole discipline. Everything else — the tools, the acronyms, the conference talks — is implementation detail.

Google's ranking systems evaluate hundreds of signals, but they cluster into three questions. Can we access this page? Does it answer the query better than the alternatives? Do other credible sources treat this site as an authority on the topic? Technical SEO addresses the first. On-page and content work address the second. Off-page work addresses the third. An SEO programme that neglects any one of them has a ceiling.

What makes SEO uncomfortable for businesses is the lag. You spend in month one and see the return in month seven. That delay is also what makes it defensible: a competitor cannot buy their way past three years of accumulated authority the way they can outbid you on Google Ads before lunch.

The uncomfortable part. SEO does not fix a weak offer. If your service is priced wrong, your sales team takes four days to return a call, or nobody is searching for what you sell, more organic traffic simply delivers people to a leaky bucket faster. We check for this in the audit and will tell you if that is what we find.

Why SEO matters more in Singapore than in most markets

Singapore has one of the highest internet penetration rates in the world, a mobile-first population, and a business landscape where a handful of players dominate each commercial vertical's search results. The category leaders in legal, aesthetics, property and finance have spent years accumulating authority. That looks discouraging until you notice the corollary: they usually compete on ten head terms and ignore the several hundred long-tail queries where actual purchase decisions get made.

The market is also small enough that geographic modifiers matter. "SEO agency" and "SEO agency Singapore" behave as different queries with different intent and different competitive dynamics. Local SEO is not a bolt-on here — for a large share of businesses it is the primary channel.

What SEO is not

It is not a monthly allocation of blog posts. It is not a tool subscription with a login you never use. It is not a guarantee, and any agency offering one is either misrepresenting how Google works or planning to rank you for keywords you already owned. And it is not a substitute for a website that converts — which is why our SEO and web development teams sit in the same room.

02 — The four pillars

What our SEO services cover

Sequenced deliberately. Fixing crawl and speed before publishing content is the difference between a programme that compounds and one that stalls.

Technical SEO

The plumbing. If Google cannot crawl, render and index your pages efficiently, nothing downstream matters.

  • Crawl budget, indexation and canonical logic
  • Core Web Vitals: LCP, INP, CLS
  • Redirect chains, 404s and status code hygiene
  • JavaScript rendering and hydration issues
  • XML sitemaps, robots.txt, log-file analysis
  • Structured data and schema markup
  • hreflang for multi-market sites
  • Mobile-first rendering parity

On-page SEO

Making each page unmistakably the best available answer to one specific commercial query.

  • Intent-matched title tags and meta descriptions
  • A single H1 and disciplined heading hierarchy
  • Content depth measured against the ranking set
  • Entity coverage and semantic completeness
  • Internal linking and anchor text strategy
  • Image optimisation and descriptive alt text
  • Cannibalisation resolution and page consolidation
  • Conversion elements that don't sabotage rankings

Off-page SEO & link building

Authority is a vote of confidence from sites Google already trusts. It has to be earned, and it can be lost.

  • Digital PR and journalist outreach
  • Original data studies and citable research
  • Linkable asset creation: tools, calculators, benchmarks
  • Competitor backlink gap analysis
  • Unlinked brand mention reclamation
  • Toxic link audits and disavow where warranted
  • Industry partnerships and expert contributions
  • No PBNs. No purchased links. Ever.

Local SEO Singapore

The map pack is often the entire game for businesses with premises or a defined service area.

  • Google Business Profile optimisation
  • Primary and secondary category strategy
  • Citation building and NAP consistency
  • Review generation workflows and response
  • Location and service-area landing pages
  • Google Maps SEO and proximity factors
  • Local link acquisition and sponsorships
  • Multi-location architecture without cannibalisation

03 — Research

Keyword research and competitor analysis

Most keyword research produces a spreadsheet of 4,000 terms sorted by search volume, which is a useful way to look busy and a poor way to make money. We segment by intent and by proximity to a purchase decision, then map each cluster to a page that already exists or a page that needs to.

Intent, not volume

A term with 90 monthly searches and clear buying intent — "outsourced payroll singapore pricing" — is worth more than one with 12,000 searches and none, like "what is payroll". The second belongs at the top of a funnel, if it belongs anywhere. Ranking for it will inflate your traffic chart and leave your pipeline untouched.

We classify every target term as informational, commercial investigation, transactional or navigational, then check what Google itself already believes the intent to be by examining the current ranking set. If the top ten results are comparison articles, your product page will not rank there no matter how well optimised it is. The SERP tells you what format Google wants. Arguing with it is expensive.

Competitor analysis

We look at the sites outranking you and ask four questions. What topics do they cover that you do not? Which of their pages attract the most referring domains, and why? Where is their content thinner than yours, presenting an opportunity to displace them? And which of their rankings are propped up purely by domain authority rather than page quality — because those are the vulnerable ones.

The output is a gap analysis with an honest verdict on each opportunity: winnable now, winnable in twelve months, or not worth the money. That third category is one most agencies quietly omit.

Intent typeExample queryFormat that ranksPipeline value
Transactionalseo agency singapore pricingService or pricing pageHighest

Navigationalmedia on tap reviewsBrand or review pageDefensive

Keyword mapping

Every target term gets exactly one owner page. This sounds obvious and is violated constantly. When three pages on your site all target "website design singapore", Google has to choose between them, splits the link equity three ways, and frequently ranks the weakest one. Cannibalisation is among the most common problems we find, and among the cheapest to fix — usually by consolidating three mediocre pages into one strong one and redirecting the rest.

04 — Content marketing

Content a human would choose to read

Google's helpful content systems are, at this point, quite good at recognising work written for search engines rather than people. The defence is not clever writing. It is having something to say.

Our content process starts with your sales team, not a keyword tool. Which objections come up on every call? Which questions do prospects ask that competitors answer badly or not at all? What does your team know that took a decade to learn? That is where defensible content lives, and it is why we insist on interviewing subject matter experts rather than briefing a freelancer to paraphrase page one.

Every piece carries an identifiable author with real credentials, cites its sources, and states its evidence. This is E-E-A-T in practice: experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trustworthiness are not schema properties you bolt on. They are attributes of the work itself.

We also revise relentlessly. Pages sitting at positions four through fifteen are the highest-return work available to most sites — they already have Google's attention and need depth, better internal links, or a format change to break through. Agencies chase new posts because new posts are easier to invoice.

Linkable assets

Original survey data on Singapore SME marketing budgets. A free tool that solves a real problem. A benchmark report nobody else has published. Journalists cite these. Nobody cites a "10 tips" post.

Digital PR

Genuine outreach to publications with genuine reasons to cover you. Slower than buying links, and the only approach that survives a core update intact.

Why we refuse PBNs

Private blog networks and purchased links work until they catastrophically don't. When Google issues a manual action, recovery routinely costs more time than the rankings those links ever bought — which is why we don't sell the shortcut.

05 — SEO audit Singapore

Every engagement starts with an audit

We will not quote a retainer before looking at the site. Selling a fixed monthly package to a business you have not diagnosed is guessing with someone else's budget.

The audit is a deliverable in its own right. It runs to 30–60 pages depending on site size, and it is written so your in-house developer could execute the entire fix list without us. If you take it and run the fixes in-house, that is a legitimate outcome — the point is a site that works, not a dependency on us.

What the audit covers

  • Technical health: full crawl, indexation coverage, canonical logic, redirect chains, status codes, Core Web Vitals across templates, JavaScript rendering, mobile parity, structured data validation.
  • Content inventory: every URL classified as thin, duplicate, cannibalising, outdated or performing — with a decision for each: keep, revise, consolidate, or remove.
  • Backlink profile: referring domain quality, anchor distribution, toxic link exposure, and the gap against your three closest competitors.
  • Search Console and GA4 review: what already ranks on page two, where impressions exist without clicks, and which pages convert once found.
  • Prioritised roadmap: every recommendation scored on expected impact against implementation effort, sequenced so the cheap wins ship first.

Free vs. paid audits. The complimentary audit is a genuine review of your top issues, delivered in writing within three business days. The full paid audit is a different animal — days of analyst time, log files, and a complete remediation roadmap. We will tell you honestly which one your situation warrants.

06 — Measurement

Google Search Console, analytics and monthly reporting

If you cannot connect the work to a business number, you are funding an experiment, not a channel.

Google Search Console

The only source of truth for how Google sees your site. We use it for indexation coverage, query-level performance, and the position-four-to-fifteen opportunity list that drives most of our optimisation work. Configured properly at property, subdomain and country level.

GA4 & conversion tracking

Most GA4 setups we inherit are wrong. Events fire twice, form submissions go untracked, phone taps are invisible, and organic receives none of the credit it earned. We rebuild the measurement layer before making any claims about it.

Monthly reporting

A live dashboard plus a one-page written summary: what shipped, what it moved, what happens next month. Leads and revenue lead the page. Rankings and impressions support them. Nothing is included to pad length.

What we will never report. Domain Authority is a third-party metric invented by a software company; Google does not use it. "Keywords in top 100" measures nothing. Traffic to a blog post that generates zero enquiries is a cost, not a win. These stay in our working files as diagnostics, where they belong, and out of your report.

07 — Our SEO process

Five stages, in this order, every time

Publishing content before fixing crawl and speed problems is how six months disappear and the algorithm gets the blame.

01

Audit

Diagnose before prescribing. Technical, content, links, competitors.

02

Strategy

Intent-mapped keywords, prioritised roadmap, named owners and dates.

03

Implementation

Technical fixes, then on-page, then new content. Weekly shipping notes.

04

Optimisation

Revise page-two pages. Consolidate cannibals. Earn links to what deserves them.

05

Reporting

Leads, revenue, and a plain-English account of the month.

Pricing

We don't publish packages. Here's why.

A fixed SGD 2,000 tier means one client subsidises another, and the one who needs the most work gets the least attention. We scope after the audit, quote a specific figure, and hold it. Most retainers land between SGD 1,500 and SGD 12,000 per month.

08 — SEO FAQ

Straight answers about SEO services

An SEO agency makes it easier for search engines to find, understand and trust your website, and makes the pages themselves better answers to what people are searching for. In practice that means technical remediation, keyword and intent research, content production and revision, internal linking, and earning citations from other credible sites. The commercial goal is qualified traffic, not rankings for their own sake.

Most reputable Singapore retainers fall between SGD 1,500 and SGD 12,000 per month. A single-location local business often needs the lower end. A national ecommerce site or a competitive B2B category with heavy content and digital PR requirements needs the upper end. One-off audits generally range from SGD 2,500 to SGD 8,000 depending on site size.

A full technical crawl covering indexation, canonicals, redirects, status codes, Core Web Vitals, structured data and mobile rendering. Plus a content inventory identifying thin, duplicate and cannibalising pages, a backlink profile review, a competitor gap analysis, and a prioritised roadmap ranked by expected impact against effort.

They are sequential, not competing. If Google cannot crawl, render or index your pages, no amount of content will rank. Once the technical foundation is sound, content and links become the levers that decide position. Fixing technical debt first is what stops a content programme from being wasted.

By producing assets other sites have a reason to cite: original data, useful tools, and expert commentary. We pitch those to journalists, industry publications and partner sites. We do not buy links from private blog networks or link farms. Purchased links can produce short-term movement and long-term penalties, and the recovery costs more than the shortcut saved.

Yes, though the work overlaps heavily with good conventional SEO. Being cited in AI-generated answers correlates with clear structure, factual accuracy, entity clarity, and topical authority. We ensure content answers questions directly near the top of the page, uses proper schema, and is attributable to named experts.

Sometimes, and the honest answer depends on the gap. If a competitor has ten years of domain history, three hundred referring domains and a page that genuinely serves the query better, displacing them in six months is unrealistic. We will tell you before you sign, and usually propose a flanking strategy through adjacent, winnable queries that feed the same pipeline.

Local SEO targets the map pack and location-qualified searches. If you have a physical premises or serve a defined area of Singapore, you need it. The main levers are your Google Business Profile, category selection, citation consistency across directories, review volume and velocity, and location-specific pages on your site.

Qualified leads and revenue attributable to organic search, first. Then assisted conversions, non-brand organic sessions, share of voice against a defined competitor set, and rankings for the commercial keyword group. Impressions and domain authority are diagnostic inputs, never the headline.

We monitor rankings and traffic daily against a stability baseline. If a core update moves your site, we wait for the rollout to complete before diagnosing, because mid-rollout data is noise. Sites built on technical health and genuinely useful content tend to gain from core updates rather than lose.
